Run by the Schneider family since they built the place back in 1965, Hotel Plattenhof has plenty of hints to its history throughout. Antiques fill the nooks and crannies, from farmhouse furniture to historic nicknacks – just one way the family have tried to celebrate the hotel’s roots and bring you that authentic Vorarlberg charm. When it comes to your room though, you’ll find things are feeling pretty modern. Alpine in feel, but sporting some contemporary furnishings and style, they’re looking rather smart. With slopes-a-plenty to the north and gondolas up the Rüfikopf opposite, there’s plenty of skiing to be done from Lech. Fortunately, whichever direction you pick, you won’t have to walk far from Plattenhof before hopping on the lifts – the Rüfikopf and Bergbahn Lech-Oberlech stations are both about 10 minutes away on foot. It’s possible to ski right back to the hotel at the end of the day too. From the northern face, you can make your way across to the Hinterweis blue run and from there it’s an easy swoosh down to the Plattenhof’s doors. When you’re back, the hotel boasts a rather large spa area, with some varied ways for you to unwind. Whether you like things toasty or you really want to chill out, there are saunas and steam rooms or an ice fountain and brine grotto for relaxing whichever way suits you. Or you could always head to the pool, which is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows – which not only means you can enjoy the sun while you swim, but taking a dip feels especially warm and relaxing when you can look out on the snowy landscape mid-dip.

Welcome to the majestic resort of Lech. With its outstanding natural beauty, immaculately groomed slopes, and guaranteed snow it’s widely considered to be one of Austria’s top ski resorts.
Along with its enviable snow record and short transfer time, it has long been beloved of royalty and celebrities.
Lech is part of the extensive Arlberg ski area, linking to Zurs, Stubenbach, St Christoph and the legendary St Anton. The Arlberg has 280km of pistes and 180km of off piste routes.
With its high altitude skiing, impressive diversity of slopes, and modern lifts; you really can’t afford to miss out on Lech. We have a fantastic range of holiday packages to choose from, flying from your local regional airport.
The village itself is stunning, a typical Tyrolean village with an attractive river running through the town. Famous for its world-class hospitality and outstanding facilities, Lech is quite simply one of the most beautiful resorts out there. A 14th century church dominates the landscape of the village, and the tiny, picturesque hamlet of Zurs is only a few minutes away by bus - or you can ski there!
There are a number of hotels and chalets in the resort offering the majority of the available accommodation, some of which is ski in ski out. Why not call our experts on 0203 8236118 and see what we can find you in Lech?
The skiing in Lech is widely considered to be some of the best in Austria. The ski area is known as the Arlberg ski area linking Lech to the resorts of Zurs, Stubenbach, St Christoph and the famous St Anton. There are 280km of slopes and 180km (113 miles) of off piste and with so much high altitude skiing on offer, snow is virtually guaranteed. One of the great features of Lech and Zurs is that the resorts will only sell up to a set maximum number of lift tickets, meaning the slope will never be too busy.
For learner skiers and children there are gentle nursery slopes found very close to the main lifts and many of the hotels, making them easy to access.
There are many idyllic wide blue and red runs to choose from, notably the runs from the Schlegelkopf chair which accesses the scenic Oberlech. Opposite the main chair lifts you’ll find the Rüfikopf lift that leads to the Hexenboden slopes heading toward Zurs.
There’s also the legendary ski circuit known as “The White Ring”. This is a unique route through part of the Alps between Lech, Zurs, Zug and Oberlech. This route is still centred around the original cable cars and lifts just as it was when it was first popularised 50 years ago. This circuit is home to the White Ring race that takes place in January every year and, at 22km, is the longest ski race in the world. The record for this course is held by Patrick Ortile with his time of 44:35:07 - can you beat it?
Lech is an expert skier’s paradise, with some of the best and most challenging off piste in Austria, You can also try heli-skiing if you want a new challenge!
The vast extent of phenomenal, untouched off piste over the resort’s unique and diverse terrain is ideal for boarders, with many cliff drops (only for the experts) and 180km of off piste routes to choose from. There are also 2 snowparks; one in Lech, one the famed Stanton Park over in St Anton, to have a play on.

No obligation. One of the team will come back to you the same day where we can.
After the slopes close, the town comes alive! It’s not exaggerating to say the main street turns into one long street bar filled with champagne and cocktails. Popular places to go include the Tannbergerhof which later turns into a nightclub, and there are also a staggering 4 discos to visit. It’s also well worth stopping off in St Anton to sample the apres ski there as well.
One chair up from the main lift station in Lech is an ice bar with a chilled out atmosphere serving oysters and champagne. This bar has a fantastic outdoor seating area with music and is a must for anyone who goes to Lech.
The Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguruh bars are two of the best apres ski venues in the Alps. If you’re staying in Lech, just stop off in St Anton for a bit of apres fun and jump on the bus back to Lech once it is all over. Just make sure not to miss the last bus!
