Chalet Marmot is located in the ‘Hameau de Flaine’ area of the resort, a pretty hamlet of multicoloured chalets above the centre of Flaine and offering tremendous views over the ski area. Our chalet is Scandinavian in style with wooden exteriors and delightfully decorated inside with pine-clad walls, but very modern and very comfortable. For your convenience we offer our complimentary minibus service to take you to the slopes at the start and end of the day of the skiing day. There is a ski track just 3 minutes’ walk from the chalet that leads down to Flaine Forêt, which is suitable for intermediate skiers and boarders. It then joins the piste going to the Grand Vans chairlift or further down to the Grandes Platieres gondola. Alternatively there is an excellent bus service which takes 8 minutes to the Grand Vans, running every 10-15 minutes through to 6.30pm. In the evenings there is a free taxi service between the Hameau and the centre of Flaine. The Hameau area has a restaurant with a bar and a small shop and the main nightlife is in Flaine Forum where there is a large selection of bars and restaurants. This is an ideal chalet for a group of friends or a couple of families. Split over three floors, the bedrooms are on the top and bottom floors with the entrance and communal areas in the middle. The two upper floor rooms lead off from a landing which has a single and a pull-out bed. These extra beds are only available for whole chalet bookings and recommended for children only. The open-plan lounge / dining area has large comfy sofas, a flat screen TV, balcony and a warming log-burning stove and the furnishings create the atmosphere of a true mountain hideaway.

Flaine is a fantastic ski holiday destination and is often referred to by the locals as “the big Snowy Bowl” due to its amazing snow record; it is a true hidden gem. Flaine is at 1600m, has 265km of piste, and forms part of the Grand Massif ski area by linking to Samoens, Morillon, Les Carroz, and Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval. Not only does it have fantastic skiing and most of the properties are ski in ski out, Flaine is only about 1hr and 15 minutes from Geneva airport so it is a perfect ski holiday choice for families as it has a very short transfer. We have a wide choice of winter Flaine ski holiday packages to choose from where you can fly from your local regional airport.
Flaine is home to the “Jam Park” which is almost a mile long and is one of France’s biggest snow parks. It makes for a perfect ski trip for any snowboarder. Here there is a half-pipe, kickers, rails and a boardercross. Every Sunday there is a party at Jam Park where there are live DJs and BBQs that is well worth a visit during your skiing holiday.
Flaine is traffic-free and the ski resort is divided into 3 levels. The upper level is Flaine Foret at 1700m and Flaine Forum at 1600m. There is a new development, Hameau de Flaine, which still skis in ski out like the rest of Flaine but built in a more traditional style. All 3 villages offer easy access to one another by an efficient lift system. Flaine Forum is the heart of the resort where most of the restaurants & bars are found.
Flaine is really a hidden secret and the main part of the village is at 1600m. It has 265km of pistes and forms part of the Grand Massif ski area. It is very popular with families and snowboarders. It has an excellent snow record thanks to its proximity to Mont Blanc and one of the shortest transfers at 1 hour and 15 minutes for Geneva. One other feature of Flaine is that a lot of the skiing is below the tree line so it is a perfect ski holiday destination for any tree line skiing enthusiast.
Flaine is a perfect place for beginners as there are plenty of wide gentle nursery slopes close to the resort to choose from. There are also plenty of beginner slopes up high at the top of the ski area accessed by the Grandes Platières cable car and by the Petit Baltacha and Colonné drag lifts.
The Grand Massif is an ideal ski destination for intermediates skier enthusiasts as there are plenty of touring routes and many tree-lined pistes perfect to take in the spectacular scenery.
Experts will find that the Grand Massif has plenty of off-piste opportunities as well as 12 black runs to play on. The Diamant Noir down from Samoens and Combe de Gers are popular routes.
Flaine is a Snowboarding paradise with many wide and cruising pistes to enjoy. It also has one of the largest snow parks in France the “Jam Park” which is 1 mile long and filled with kickers, rails, half pipe and a boardercross.
