It is also a high altitude ski region and Sauze has a resort height of 1509m with skiing all the way up to 2800m. In 2006 many of the events for the Turin Winter Olympics were held here and there was a significant investment in the infrastructure and lift system. This means that the majority of the lifts are modern and high speed so access to the full 400km of piste could not be easier.

However, the majority the beginner skiing in Sauze d'Oulx is to be found radiating from Sportina which is a plateau half way up the mountain, just above the village. Itis easily reached via a four man chairlift and is where most of the teaching in Sauze takes place.
The intermediate skiing in Sauze d'Oulx is mainly focused around the Monte Triplex and the red runs that link up with Rocce Nere but all of the skiing in Sauze is breat for intermediates. Advanced skiing in Sauze d'Oulx can be found in the Moncrons and the Genevris areas but as with intermediates most advanced skiers will want to make the most of the full Milky Way lift pass. Take the Bassett chair over towards Sestriere and Sansicario to test your skills and nerve on 'Kandahar', the World Championship run in Sestriere as well as the long red runs that head down towards Sansicario.
There is great off piste skiing in Sauze d'Oulx in the Genevris area and there are also some great off piste tree runs to be found on the lower slopes. However if you want to make the most of the off piste skiing in Sauze then hire and guide who can show you the amazing lines that descend roughly 1300m from the top of Fratieve.

The après ski in Sauze d'Oulx is one of the main reasons that skiers and snowboarders alike flock to the resort year after year. Sauze has a reputation for being a resort with plenty of après ski venues and loads of late night parties, and this is a reputation that it certainly lives up too. If you want to ski all day and party all night then Sauze could be the place for you. However, if you want to avoid the bright lights and the late nights then it is pretty easy to do so as the nightlife and apres ski is not right in your face, like it is in some other resorts.
One of the favourite venues with British guests is the Max Bar with its satalite TV and live football. For a more of a cultured experience head to the Gran Trun wine bar or go for cocktails at Moncrons.
No matter where you end up you will undoubtedly find people dancing into the early hours and once you have had your fill of the bars you can head onto the nightclubs. Check out Schuss, New Life, or Banditos for your late night escapades.
