Hotel Ideal has one of the most peaceful locations in Sirmione. It’s right at the end of the peninsula with stunning gardens of olive trees and surrounded by the lake. You’ll feel you’ve found a little oasis in this busy town. Best of all, you’re still within walking distance of the centre of the resort. The ferry port is only ten minutes away and it’s a quick five-minute walk to Aquaria Spa (payable locally) - a fantastic thermal spa with outdoor pools and over 10,000 square metres of pure relaxation. If you don’t fancy the walk into town one day, jump on the tourist train that stops at the Roman grottoes near the hotel. It’s a fun trip for any age. One of our favourite things to do at this hotel is simply relax by the pool. There’s plenty of loungers and olive trees provide some shade, which is very welcome in the height of summer. If you need to cool off, head for the private beach and take a swim in the lake. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel is a real treat. Apart from the incredible food, it has a lovely terrace that overlooks the lake. The rooms have been finished in a modern style. They all have private balconies and it’s well worth upgrading to a lake view room if you can.

Arabba will appeal to anyone who enjoys skiing while surrounded by beautiful scenery and wants to stay in a resort with a traditional feel and atmosphere.
Located within the Italian Dolomites, Arabba provides access to the entire Dolomiti Superski with its 1200km of piste and, more importantly, the world-famous Sella Ronda ski circuit, the largest linked ski area within the Dolomites.
On top of this Arabba is also right next door to the Marmolada Glacier offering the highest skiable mountain within the Dolomites (3342m) meaning visitors are guaranteed skiing all season long.
The majority of accommodation available in Arabba is a hotel based so don't expect to find much if you are searching for chalets or hostels. However, iSki offers some lovely hotels in the area.
If you’re after an action-packed week with lots of skiing and nightlife to go with it, then Arabba is not for you. On the other hand, if you appreciate quality skiing amidst amazing scenery and a few friendly bars will satisfy your après ski needs, this resort could be right up your street.
The skiing in Arabba is very mixed but the majority of runs are red and blue with the odd black run thrown in for good measure. However, this is just the local area Arabba rather than the Dolomities as a whole. In general there is enough skiing in Arabba for all abilities but there is probably slightly more on offer for intermediates and advanced skiers especially given the access to all of the linked ski resorts.
Arabba is often thought of as being more of a resort for intermediates and advanced skiers but as in any ski resort there are still easy nursery slopes to be found. The nursey slopes that are on offer are right by the centre of the village so as a beginner you to not have to take any dawnting lifts go get to the suitable slopes.
The immediate skiing in Arabba is enough to keep even the highest level intermediate skier busy for a few days but you will no doubt want to venture further afield than the slopes of the 'Porta Vescovo' (the main mountain of Arabba). Taking advantage of the full area pass will give you access to what seems like a never ending amount of intermediate skiing as well as advanced skiing. There is no way that you can cover it all Ian a week and it will leaving you wanting more and more.
The possibilities for advanced skiing in Arabba and beyond are almost endless. Locally here is some tough skiing up on the Marmolada Glacier and there are some challenging black runs to be found on the 'Porta Vescovo' mountain as well. Further afield and on the Sella Ronda circuit and you will soon forget about the advanced skiing in Arabba whilst in search of even more challenges in the linked resorts such as Selva, Canazai, or Corvara. With roughly 1200km of piste in the Dolomiti Superski it's impossible they bored!
The potential for office piste skiing in Arabba and the surrounding area is massive but you have to be careful and stick within the rules. You will find that people still ski off piste in Arabba but a guide is highly recommended. If you want to safely stick within the rules on a powder day and want some fresh lines then seek out the runs heading down from St Cristiana from Alpe di Suisi which are marked yet unpisted. There are plenty of other areas like this to discover but as mentioned above it's is highly recommended that you hire a guide if you want to make the most off piste skiing that Arabba and the surrounding Sella Ronda has to offer.
It is also worth remembering that unlike in France, heli-skiing is not illegal in Italy. The Marmolada Glacier is a hot spot for heli-skiing and given that Arabba is right next door heli-skiing trips can very easily be organised.
Snowboarding holidays in Arabba offer boarders a vast amount of varied terrain to explore as well as as well as easy access to a Snowpark and half pipe for those who want to improve their technical skills. The local snowpark and half pipe in is located at Passo Pordoi but snowboarders holidaying in Arabba will probably want to check out the other snow parks that are on offer in the Sella Ronda region, such as the those in Canazai and Plan De Gralba.
The après ski in Arabba is nowhere near as full-on as you will get in resorts such as Sauze D'oulx or Val d'isere but there is still plenty to keep you busy for the week. Arabba is a small village but there are still plenty of bars and cafes in which to enjoy a friendly après ski drink. If you want to party all night then Arabba is not the right ski holiday destination for you it if you enjoy a full day of skiing followed by a few après ski beverages then Arabba is ideal for all of your needs.
