One of Mayrhofen’s oldest hotels, Der Siegeler has been welcoming guests for over 100 years. For Winter 2020/21, it’s getting a complete refurbishment, both inside and out. When it’s done, expect modern alpine décor, with plenty of natural wood throughout. Upstairs, the bedrooms will be bright and inviting, thanks to the large French windows that open on to your own private balcony. Downstairs, the popular Mike’s sports bar will still be open for business – head here after a day on the slopes to enjoy a drink or catch some live sport on the TVs. The location is spot on. In the morning, step outside and hop on the ski bus to the Penken gondola. And evening, it’s just a short stroll to Mayrhofen’s buzzing bars and restaurants. The building itself is set within large gardens, so it feels tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the resort centre. When it comes to food, head to the hotel dining room for a hearty buffet breakfast – choose from boiled and scrambled eggs, sliced meat and cheese, cereal, fruit, and plenty of fresh bread. In the evening, you’re free to explore Mayrhofen’s many restaurants. Or if you fancy something more convenient, upgrade to half board and take your meals at the nearby Hotel Berghof, where you can fill up on the same delicious buffet spread as the other guests. Just so you know, the photos shown here are artist’s impressions, so the final look of the hotel may differ slightly.

Mayrhofen ski holidays take you to a stunning town within the Ziller river valley in the Austrian Tyrol. Mayrhofen is a snow sure resort situated near the Hintertux glacier standing at a mighty 3250m, ideal for late season skiing and consequently very popular in March and April. Mayrhofen is often considered to be one of the world’s top ten ski resorts not just because of its spectacular scenery but also its large and varied ski area.
The ski resort itself has 157km of piste with access to the 86km on the Hintertux glacier included in your area lift pass and just a short (free!) bus journey away. The ski area is linked to Finkenburg, Lanersbach and Schwendau creating the massive Zillertal 3000 area. This extensive area has access to around 600km of piste, perfect for adventurous skiers and snowboarders during the winter, and is often popular with groups for both New Year and Easter ski holidays.
Our Mayrhofen ski accommodation includes catered ski chalets and many ski hotels. Whether you’re on a budget or looking for a luxury hotel we have packages departing on Saturdays from mid-December through to the end of April from most regional airports within the UK.
The ski resort of Mayrhofen is a beautiful picturesque resort (as you’d expect from Austria) nestled between the Penken and Ahorn mountains, and located only a short transfer away from Innsbruck. With a transfer time of approximately 1 hour it’s one of the shortest transfers in the Alps, ideal for ski and snowboarding holidays or for family ski trips.
Although the Mayrhofen ski resort is at 600m there are 2 main lifts in town, the fast Penken Gondola next to the Sport Hotel Strass and the Ahorn cable car, these quickly take you up to high skiable areas. There’s one amazing piste that runs into town that is a fast downhill run through the trees; here at iSki, we think it’s one of the best runs on the planet!
There is a good mix of skiing available in Mayrhofen that is suited to all level and abilities. Have a read through our guides below and see for yourself.
