The Moosegg is a traditional Austrian guesthouse with a few modern touches. You’ll be welcomed by your friendly host Alexandra and her family, before heading to your spacious and comfortable room. In line with its traditional style, the facilities at the Moosegg are simple – there’s free WiFi and a ski storage room, plus a lovely breakfast room where you can you can fill up for a day on the hill. The location is one of the Moosegg’s best features. It’s just a few minutes walk from the Ahorn and Penken lifts, and 5-10 minutes from the resort centre – so you can get straight on the mountain in the morning and then wander to one of the local restaurants for dinner in the evening. Location: Sitting at the foot of the Penken and Ahorn mountains with 57 lifts, 136km of skiing and Austria’s steepest run, Harakiri, Mayrhofen is one of the most diverse Alpine resorts. All slopes are reached by gondola, so beginners will need a full lift pass from day one, although the ski schools are great and the range of easier runs make for fast progression. Mayrhofen has a wide variety of more challenging runs and, in the right conditions, some impressive off-piste. If you manage to defeat the 38 degree gradient of Harakiri, you get to wear the "I survived Harakiri" t-shirt, and get your 5 minutes' of fame at a free photo shoot every Friday. The Penken Park is also one of the leading freestyle parks in Europe, made up of eight areas. But don't worry, even if you're a beginner you can practice your skills in the Kids Park section. • 4 minute walk to the Ahornbahn lift and 5 minute walk to the Penkenbahn. • 5-10 minute walk to the resort centre. • 5-10 minute walk to the ski school. • 3 minute walk to the ski bus stop.

Mayrhofen ski holidays take you to a stunning town within the Ziller river valley in the Austrian Tyrol. Mayrhofen is a snow sure resort situated near the Hintertux glacier standing at a mighty 3250m, ideal for late season skiing and consequently very popular in March and April. Mayrhofen is often considered to be one of the world’s top ten ski resorts not just because of its spectacular scenery but also its large and varied ski area.
The ski resort itself has 157km of piste with access to the 86km on the Hintertux glacier included in your area lift pass and just a short (free!) bus journey away. The ski area is linked to Finkenburg, Lanersbach and Schwendau creating the massive Zillertal 3000 area. This extensive area has access to around 600km of piste, perfect for adventurous skiers and snowboarders during the winter, and is often popular with groups for both New Year and Easter ski holidays.
Our Mayrhofen ski accommodation includes catered ski chalets and many ski hotels. Whether you’re on a budget or looking for a luxury hotel we have packages departing on Saturdays from mid-December through to the end of April from most regional airports within the UK.
The ski resort of Mayrhofen is a beautiful picturesque resort (as you’d expect from Austria) nestled between the Penken and Ahorn mountains, and located only a short transfer away from Innsbruck. With a transfer time of approximately 1 hour it’s one of the shortest transfers in the Alps, ideal for ski and snowboarding holidays or for family ski trips.
Although the Mayrhofen ski resort is at 600m there are 2 main lifts in town, the fast Penken Gondola next to the Sport Hotel Strass and the Ahorn cable car, these quickly take you up to high skiable areas. There’s one amazing piste that runs into town that is a fast downhill run through the trees; here at iSki, we think it’s one of the best runs on the planet!
There is a good mix of skiing available in Mayrhofen that is suited to all level and abilities. Have a read through our guides below and see for yourself.
