If your idea of a great ski holiday is a lovely pretty village, surrounded by stunning scenery and with a good variety of skiing on offer, then a ski holiday in Madonna di Campiglio could be right up your street. The skiing is perfect for intermediates and it is a classically Italian village that oozes charm and sophistication. The resort is well known for the rich and famous clientèle that it attracts and Madonna di Campiglio is most definitely not a destination for those looking for a cheap and cheerful holiday but there is more to Madonna than meets the eye. It is not just about style, there is also plenty of substance to the resort and the area.
There are 4 resorts that are covered on the lift pass and in total there is 150km of piste, so whilst some holidaymakers simply visit Madonna di Campiglio so as to be seen, there is still plenty of skiing to be found for those who are there to ski! The other 3 resorts that are covered on the full area lift pass are Folgarida, Marilleva and Pinzolo. The links over to Folgarida and Marilleva are well established and it is the lifts for the Northern end of the town that will take you over in this direction. Pinzolo is located to the south of Madonna di Campiglio and the two resorts are connected via a Gondola called the Pinzolo-Campiglio Express which was opened in 2011. It is also worth noting that the full area pass covers two other resorts as well, namely Passo Tonale, Ponte di Legno. In total there is 340km of piste in what is called the Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta ski area but these other 2 resorts can only be accessed via bus or car.

There are nice easy blue runs spread throughout the area but absolute beginners will start off on the nursery slopes of Campo Carlo Magno. Never fear is you are staying at the other end of town as the ski school runs a free mini bus service to pick people up before the lessons start for the day.
Intermediate skiers will be in paradise in Madonna di Campiglio. There are 150km of piste to explore and the fact that there are four resorts covered on the lift pass gives a nice variety to the skiing. A full area pass is highly recommended in order to make the most of your holiday.

The 3 Tre World Cup Slalom run is one to check out. This event takes place under flights and when the event is not on night skiing is on offer for those who just can't get enough of the skiing during the day. There is also the option of even morew skiing on the full area lift pass because the full area pass covers the Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta ski area (340km in total). Wiih the rich and famous clientèle that Madonna tends to attract one might not think that they would cater all that well for snowboarders. However, snowboarding holidays to Madonna di Campiglio are surprisingly popular. There are 4 snowparks on offer and the Ursus Snowpark is recognised as one of the best in Europe. It is split over 3 areas with roughly 40 obstacles. Madonna di Campiglio also regularly hosts FIS World Championship snowboard events.

Italian ski resorts are not famed for their apres-ski but there is actually quite a lot going on in Madonna di Campiglio. There is a mixed crowd of holidaymakers in the resorts ranging from the super-rich, who often frequent the wine and cocktails bars on offer, through to young snowboarders and freestyle skiers who add a lively atmosphere to the bars and two nightclubs that are on offer.
There are a handful of bars on offer in the center of the village. Cliffhanger Bar and Bar Suisse are two decent choices if you are after dancing and live music whilst Des Alps is the main nightclub in the resort center. Angola is the second night club to check out. It is actually bigger than De Alps and is well know to the locals as the place to head for a late-night party but it is on the outskirts of the village. Either take a taxi or look out for the free bus that the nightclub often runs.
