LOCATED IN BURGSTALL (just outside Mayrhofen) The Gästhaus Schneeberger is a friendly, family-run guesthouse (in summer it is a working farm) with an inviting atmosphere. It's typically Tirolean in style - the rooms are spacious and comfy, decorated with warm colours and plenty of natural wood. The Schneeberger is about as close to being in Mayrhofen as you can get without actually being 'in Mayrhofen' - essentially it is the wrong side of the River Ziller. So, if you are planning on spending every single night out in Mayrhofen this place probably isn't for you as it's about a 30 minute walk into the centre of town. However if you are in the Ziller Valley for the extensive skiing then this might actually be perfect for a few reasons - aside from the fantastic value. The Gästhaus Scheeberger has a great location for keen and experienced skiers and boarders - it'll only take you around 12 minutes or so to walk up to the Horberger gondola. Most people skiing Mayrhofen use the Penken gondola - which has a reputation for getting very busy, especially in the mornings, and having quite long queues - the lesser known Horberger doesn't - meaning you get on the mountain that little bit quicker. Also there is the red Skiroute Penken 1 that runs all the way back down to the Horberger base station, so if conditions are good you can have a challenging home run instead of riding down on the gondola. At breakfast you'll have your choice of breads, cold meats, cheeses and cereal along with boiled eggs - and many of the ingredients are produced on their farm. For dinner you have loads of choice. Mayrhofen has plenty of restaurants to explore - a taxi back will cost around €10. There's a pizzaria near the Horberger gondola and a few small restaurants nearby - alternatively upgrade to half board and have your evening meals at the Alpin-Hotel Schrofenblick, just a couple of minutes down the road.

Mayrhofen ski holidays take you to a stunning town within the Ziller river valley in the Austrian Tyrol. Mayrhofen is a snow sure resort situated near the Hintertux glacier standing at a mighty 3250m, ideal for late season skiing and consequently very popular in March and April. Mayrhofen is often considered to be one of the world’s top ten ski resorts not just because of its spectacular scenery but also its large and varied ski area.
The ski resort itself has 157km of piste with access to the 86km on the Hintertux glacier included in your area lift pass and just a short (free!) bus journey away. The ski area is linked to Finkenburg, Lanersbach and Schwendau creating the massive Zillertal 3000 area. This extensive area has access to around 600km of piste, perfect for adventurous skiers and snowboarders during the winter, and is often popular with groups for both New Year and Easter ski holidays.
Our Mayrhofen ski accommodation includes catered ski chalets and many ski hotels. Whether you’re on a budget or looking for a luxury hotel we have packages departing on Saturdays from mid-December through to the end of April from most regional airports within the UK.
The ski resort of Mayrhofen is a beautiful picturesque resort (as you’d expect from Austria) nestled between the Penken and Ahorn mountains, and located only a short transfer away from Innsbruck. With a transfer time of approximately 1 hour it’s one of the shortest transfers in the Alps, ideal for ski and snowboarding holidays or for family ski trips.
Although the Mayrhofen ski resort is at 600m there are 2 main lifts in town, the fast Penken Gondola next to the Sport Hotel Strass and the Ahorn cable car, these quickly take you up to high skiable areas. There’s one amazing piste that runs into town that is a fast downhill run through the trees; here at iSki, we think it’s one of the best runs on the planet!
There is a good mix of skiing available in Mayrhofen that is suited to all level and abilities. Have a read through our guides below and see for yourself.
