Just above Meribel's centre, the views from Chalet Ophelia's balconies are fantastic; over the town and onto the mountains beyond. The chalet is actually two chalets joined by an internal corridor. This means that there are two separate lounge areas each with roaring fires and comfy sofas, perfect for chilling after a day on the mountain, glass of wine in hand or pulling out a game of mousetrap. Chalet Ophelia sits just above the village centre giving the chalet fantastic views across the valley. To get to the slopes you can walk to the tourist office where an escalator will take you up to the piste (you can ski down to the main lift area from here), it's a 600m walk taking around 7 minutes. Alternatively, you can hop on the resort shuttle that stops at the end of the road (it's free with your lift pass). To get back to the chalet you can walk from the tourist office but we'd recommend getting the resort shuttle from the main lift area (bus stops are just behind the station). Or, if you like a bit of après you can catch the bus to the chalet from the Rond Point, which is pretty awesome. The town centre is around the same area as the tourist office so again a 6-7 minute walk. It's a nice walk once you take the ski boots off. The exposed stone and carved wooden balconies are immediately striking and this traditional exterior is carried into the chalet itself with wooden beams spanning the ceiling of the main lounge area separated from the dining room by a stunning log burning fireplace. Most bedrooms have access to the balconies to enjoy the views and there are 9 twin rooms, 3 doubles and a triple so the chalet sleeps a maximum of 26. All interiors have been updated ready for the 2018-19 winter season with soft light grey couches in the main living room with touches of faux fur and dark grey woolly curtains. This theme runs through the rooms as well bringing some modern touches to a traditional chalet. But the best bit of all is the two bubbling hot tubs on the front terrace. A traditional chalet in a fabulous resort with outdoor hot tubs to come back to each afternoon. Tick, tick and tic

Meribel is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world and is located within the 3 Valleys (or Trois Vallees) in France. There are four main resorts that make up the Trois Vallees; Meribel, Val Thorens, Courchevel, and Les Menuires.
You will often hear Meribel called the hub of the region. The reason for this is that Meribel is located centrally and as a result basing yourself in Meribel offers unparalleled access to the rest of the region.
With a resort height of 1450m, Meribel is a resort with high altitude skiing and a great snow record.
If you’d prefer to be a little higher up the valley, you could look at Meribel Motterat; one of the satellite villages of Meribel. The village has its own character and charm although, whilst fully tied into the ski region, most of the shops, bars, and restaurants are located in Meribel itself.
Whilst searching for accommodation you might also come across Meribel Village. Again, this is a satellite village within the Meribel Valley located just below the main center of Meribel.
As with Meribel Motterat, you have full access to the ski area from Meribel Village but again the amenities are more limited and if you like your skiing holidays loud and lively then the Village is not your best bet.
Meribel as a whole is extremely pretty and is predominantly comprised of traditional stone and wood-clad chalets, providing much of the charm and beauty of the resort. To ensure good piste access, most chalets have private minibus services.
If you want a Meribel skiing holiday you should expect a lively resort with plenty to do, and plenty of skiing. It’s great for families but hardly short of nightlife for adult groups either. Why not give us a call and see if we can find you the perfect Meribel ski holiday?
With access to 600km of piste across the Trois Vallees, the skiing in Meribel is enough to keep even the most advanced skier completely occupied for at least a week.
Still, there’s plenty to enjoy even if you’re not an expert skier. Meribel is also one of those wonderful resorts that offer bountiful skiing for all abilities.
Whether you want to stick to the easy to access nursery slopes or want to challenge yourself with some off-piste tree skiing or freestyle adventures in one of the many snow parks in the area, the skiing in Meribel will keep everyone in your party happy.
There are some very easy to access nursery slopes in Meribel which have a gentle gradient and are ideal for learning to ski.
As a complete novice, you’ll spend most of your time in the Altiport area, a part of which is specifically designed for beginners to learn the ropes before moving on to the other pistes towards the end of your skiing holiday.
There are endless possibilities for intermediate skiers. Long, winding blue runs like the Gelinotte run down into the heart of Meribel and some lovely runs down into Meribel Motterat.
As an intermediate skier you’re probably going to want to purchase a full area lift pass to explore the surrounding resorts but if you want to save a bit of money there’s still plenty of skiing to be had just with the local area lift pass which gives you access to the whole of the Meribel Valley.
Advanced skiers on holiday in Meribel will absolutely want to purchase a full area 3 Valleys lift pass. There’s so much skiing to be had just in Meribel but the more adventurous among you will definitely be drawn out of the valley sooner or later in search of new and exciting challenges.
With over 600km of piste to explore you can’t possibly get bored. You could easily spend a whole week skiing in the Three Valleys and still find there’s more to go!
A snowboarding holiday in Meribel will provide tree-lined runs with plenty to jib on at the side of the piste and access to two brilliant snowboard parks located within the Meribel valley itself.
The Moon Park is the bigger of the two parks and is a favourite hangout for snowboarders in the area. And as if that wasn’t enough, you can also access the snowboard parks in Val Thorens and Courchevel.
With a lot of the skiing within the tree line, Meribel offers some great opportunities to go off-piste. There are also some amazing couloirs to be skied including the Coulior Tremplin leading down to Meribel near the top of Saulire.
It’s definitely not for an inexperienced skier and is an extremely dangerous route so take care. If you like it steep and narrow, then the couloisrs that Meribel offers are just the thing.

No obligation. One of the team will come back to you the same day where we can.
There’s plenty of apres-ski to experience in Meribel, from mountain restaurants and bars to fine dining in the resort, then on to late-night party hot spots.
The most famous of the apres-ski haunts in Meribel is probably the Rond Point where you will find live music playing from 5pm to 7 pm on most days.
You’re always guaranteed a party atmosphere with plenty of skiing and dancing. If you want a good apres ski party it’s also worth checking out the newly opened La Folie Douce.
For those who then want to keep the party going, there’re plenty of bars in the center of Meribel to be found and if you want to carry on into the early hours then O'Sullivans Bar and La Taverne have got you covered.
For those out there who enjoy the quieter life, it’s very easy to steer clear of the apres-ski parties.
Meribel is quite a spread out a resort, and there is still plenty to do in the evenings with the shops open late and some fantastic restaurants such as Chez Kiki just waiting to be discovered. You could even opt for some fine dining in one of the top class hotel restaurants that can be found in hotels like La Chaudanne.
With an open-air ice rink, go-karting on ice, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, and a sports center with an indoor pool, Meribel’s facilities are up to the minute – but you could also chill out by catching a film in one of the cinemas or enjoy the view from a hot air balloon, giving a completely different perspective on the Trois Vallees. There’s even a bowling alley!
