It is also a resort that is renowned for nightlife so you will never be short of anything to do in the evenings. There are plenty of bars and nightclubs to choose from as well as loads of venues with live music. Great for skiers and snowboarders alike, Solden is a ski resort that strives to have everything for everyone and succeeds very well. This philosophy is epitomised by the slogan of the resort, 'Think big, think Solden'. You name it and Solden pretty much has it. Amazing off piste, fantastic snow record, and a brilliant snow park. In short the Solden skiing experience is definitely one to be experienced no matter what level of skiing or snowboarding you and the rest of your party are at.
As well as offering something for all tastes, the skiing in Solden also offers a good variety of piste for skiers of all standards. Beginners have an area area well suited to leaning to ski whilst there is loads of terrain for intermediates and plenty of adventures runs and routes to be found by advanced skiers.
The beginners area is now easily accessed by the the new Zentrum Shuttle that takes beginners straight to the nursery slopes of Innerwald. Once you have got your confidence together and have perfected your turns beginners can then move on the the gentle slopes at the top of the Giggijoch which will give you a real feel of being up in the mountains rather than just skiing on the slopes close to the village.
There is an abundance of intermediate skiing in Solden with well over 100km of blue and red runs that can be skied. Those adventurous intimidates amongst you will no doubt want to take on the "Big 3 Tour", a signposted tour which covers the 3 main peaks which all tower above 3000m. During the course of the ski you will cover roughly 10,000m in altitude. The 15km descent from Schwarze Schneide to Gaislachkogl is serious challenge and a real test of stamina for any intermediate skier.
With 150km of piste, loads of off piste as well as a world class snowpark the is plenty of advanced skiing in Solden for the experts within your party. Had to the sleep and tough black runs of Hainbachjoch and Schwarzogl for a really challenge. Those who want to venture further afield can even do a ski away day in Obergurgl which is just a little further up the valley from Solden (a small upgrade is required on your lift pass).
When it comes to off piste skiing its all about getting fresh tracks and given that Solden is such a party town you will often find that the party goers of the night before won't get out and onto the slopes until well after first lifts. Take an early night and head out early I front of the crowds. The Wasserkar area has the most easily accessible off piste and
Gaislachkogl peak has some of the best off piste skiing Solden has to offer.
Solden has become a real Mecca for snowboarders and freestyle skiers and people travel from far and wide for their snowboarding holidays in Solden. As you may well have read else where on the iSki site, Austrian ski resorts are all about après ski and Solden is no different. With roughly 45 lively après ski bars it's almost impossible not to somewhere to stop for a drink.
Most of the après ski in Solden begins in the mountain many of which are located at Gampe Alm and then heads in the direction of the other après ski bars. 'Phillips', one of the main apres ski venues is a huge venue with both indoor and outdoor areas which is located at the footy of the t-bar next to Ausserwald.
The nightlife and partying then continues in the village centre throughout the evening and on to the early hours. There are a few late night venues that tend to have scantily glad ladies serving the drinks and dancing on tables so depending on your views on such establishments these could either be ones to avoid or ones to frequent. Either way there is an abundance of nightlife in Solden and no matter what type of late night entertainment you are after, Solden is sure to have it.
Sleigh rides, winter walking paths, paragliding, toboggan run, ice skating, leisure complex with swimming pool, sauna, steam room, infrared cabin, jacuzzi, indoor tennis.
