Staying at Chalet Jean France will allow you the opportunity to genuinely ski to and from the door, enjoy après ski bars on the doorstep and it's just minutes away from the traffic-free resort centre, where there are shops, cafés and the brilliant Aquariaz water park. A ski school meeting point is just meters away. You really are at the heart of everything with the chalet sitting between two Apres ski bars, one being the Folie Douce. During the evening the area around the chalet becomes calm and quiet apart from the jingling bells of the horse sleighs trotting past. The neighbouring bars close by 6.00pm daily, ensuring a relaxing evening in the chalet. Early booking is recommended to secure your dates of choice, as this chalet is in very high demand. Chalet Jean-France has 6 good-sized ensuite bedrooms spread over two floors, each one with a shower, and two rooms have a bath to soak in too. All rooms have twin beds and all can be made up as doubles; please let us know your preference when booking. A snowcat resort taxi on arrival and departure in Avoriaz is included. This is a fun ride in a piste basher style vehicle, saving a 5 minute walk across snow from the Avoriaz Welcome Station (airport transfer drop off point and car park) to the chalet door, or you can take a magical horse and sleigh resort taxi (payable locally). Chalet Jean France is a catered chalet with our Classic chalet board which consists of a continental with a cooked option breakfast, delicious afternoon tea and cake and a 3-course evening meal with wine included, all provided by your friendly host who lives out. Please note our chalet staff have 2 days off a week, a Wednesday and a Saturday. Ski holidays in Avoriaz give you access to a huge amount of skiing at high altitude with a great snow record. Avoriaz has a resort height of 1800m with skiing up to 2,460m. On top of this, Avoriaz is only about 1 hour 30 minutes transfer from Geneva airport. Situated in the huge Portes du Soleil ski region, holidaymakers in Avoriaz have 650km of skiing spread between resorts in both France and Switzerland. The main resorts that make up the region are Morzine, Les Gets, Chatel, Morgins, Champoussin and Les Crosets.
A purpose-built and traffic-free resort, Avoriaz is great for families and those looking for easy ski access from their accommodation. Nearly all of the accommodation in Avoriaz has direct access to the skiing and being traffic-free (and thus road free) means that the pistes which head down into the resort can run straight through the heart of the village. This means that you never have to worry about getting a ski bus like in many other resorts. The layout of the village is very pedestrian-friendly and everything is within walking distance. However, should you wish to travel from one area to another without walking then you can take a horse-drawn sleigh. A great novelty for families with young children.
Avoriaz holidays are also great for those with nonskiers in the party as you can very easily access Morzine as a pedestrian. Morzine is not only a ski resort but also very much a bustling mountain town and offers a great opportunity for day trips.
The majority of the accommodation in Avoriaz is made up of self-catered apartments. However, there is a hand full of catered chalets such as the Chalet Marie and Chalet Les Lauzes, as well as Club Med Avoriaz All Inclusive holiday resort/hotel.

Tell us roughly when you want to go and who is coming, and we will price it with the operators for you.
No obligation. One of the team will come back to you the same day where we can.
The skiing in Avoriaz is very varied and there is plenty to suit nearly all levels of skiers and snowboarders alike. There is skiing in Avoriaz on every side of the resort as the village is situated in an area of the Portes du Soleil which forms a bowl-like shape. This means that there are main north-facing slopes that hold the snow late into the season. However, there are also many slopes facing all other directions which is great for when you are chasing the sun on a blue sky day.
The beginner skiing in Avoriaz is right in the heart of the village making it extremely easy to access. No ski buses and no long cable car ride before reaching the nursery slopes. Once you have got to grips with your ski legs you will easily be able to progress onto some of the more challenging yet still very gentle blue runs that surround the village. The local area lift pass will give you access to more than enough skiing as a beginner which is a good tip for saving a bit of money. If you can't purchase the local area pass as part of the package then simply purchase one from the lift pass office in the center of the village once you arrive.
There is an abundance of intermediate skiing in Avoriaz. The Lindarets bowl offers a large variety of runs with very easy access from the center of the resort. The Fornet bowl is also a great area for intermediate skiers to head to, with some cruising blue runs as well as some more challenging reds. There is enough intermediate skiing in Avoriaz alone to keep you entertained for a week if you don't mind doing a few runs a couple of times over, but most intermediates will want to get the full Porte du Soleil pass so that they can venture further afield.
There is plenty of advanced skiing in Avoriaz and the surrounding area. With 650km of piste to ski, you will never be bored and there is plenty of on and off-piste challenges to be found. The most famous run in the area and one which is a must do for anyone seeking the advanced skiing Avoriaz has to offer, is the 'Swiss Wall'. It takes you from Avoriaz, in France, over the border into Switzerland and it is as steep and mogully as they get. Advanced skiers will also enjoy 'The Stash', a maze of obstacles and jumps set in between the trees in the Lindaret bowl.
There is some fantastic off-piste skiing in Avoriaz as well as some marked and patrolled, yet unlisted areas. The Crozats run, for example, gives you an area of almost 3km which on a powder day will be completely untouched (if you can get there first). There is also ample opportunity for off-piste skiing in Avoriaz if you head over to the Fornet bowl as well as some great tree skiing on your way down to the bottom of the Prodans lift, as well as in the trees on the way down to the Super Morzines lift.
Snowboarding holidays in Avoriaz are hard to beat. Avoriaz has everything that you could want as a snowboarder.
Great snowparks
Well maintained halfpipe
Great off-piste
Plenty of runs that lend themselves to jibbing
Very few areas of flat piste.
What makes a snowboarding holiday in Avoriaz stand out from the rest is a combination of the above but also 'The Stash'. A jib park hidden with the trees with multiple obstacles to test your skills. Everything is made from natural materials plus was designed and engineered by Burton and it is there all year round so as soon as the snow falls it can be riden. There are no early season snowboard holidays in Avoriaz where you arrive to find that the park has not been built so you have nothing to play on. Even if the Main Avoriaz snowpark is not finished you will also way have 'The Stash' to keep you busy.
There is plenty of après ski in Avoriaz to keep you happy for the week but it is not one of those resorts where après ski takes precedent over the skiing. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from in the village, as well as plenty of slope-side venues for an après ski drink. A favorite with those who know the village is Changabang located towards the bottom of the main village, at the top of the Prodans lift. The Yeti is also a popular venue as it the Tavailons. For those who want a real party vibe then check out 'The Place', a lively Danish-owned bar with music and dancing almost every night. If you want to carry the party onto the early hours then seek out 'Le Yak'. From 1 am all the party-goers in Avoriaz head here to carry on their night.
