Chalet Hotel Alba is in a prime location situated just above the heart of Méribel’s resort centre. It’s right on the edge of the slopes, at the well-known ‘Rond Point’ landmark, and with the main Doron piste just 20 metres across the street, and a ski bridge to bring you back to the ski room door, the setting is every skier’s dream. You don’t need to go far for après either as there are several restaurants and après-ski cafés close by, plus the bus to and from the village centre runs until midnight approximately, for those wishing to sample Méribel’s famous nightlife. If your aim is to hit the slopes with maximum ease, you will love the set up here, as equipment hire for our guests is available from beneath the Chalet Hotel so getting kitted out for the slopes is also really convenient. From the Doron blue piste outside the hotel, skiers can quickly reach the resort centre and main lifts, giving plenty of options for exploring all of the Three Valleys. Or start your skiing day from the Adret chairlift, just below the Rond Point. Returning to the Alba is just as easy. From the resort centre the Rhodos 1 gondola brings you straight back to the Rond Point, or if you’ve been out on the Saulire side of the Three Valleys take the Marmotte and Doron slopes to get back. The Chalet Hotel Alba has an attractive lounge and bar area, with smart soft furnishings and comfortable sofas, as well as a feature fireplace, close to the welcoming bar. Here you can sit back and relax with your choice of après-ski drink, before enjoying the evening apéritifs and canapés. The inviting dining-room overlooks the large sun-terrace, overlooking the Doron slopes, the Rond Point , and across the entire Méribel valley. The bedrooms are set over four floors, with a variety of options, from twin and triple bedrooms to a couple of spacious fourth floor suites, which will appeal to larger parties or families. All the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, TV and many have the added bonus of a balcony.

Meribel is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world and is located within the 3 Valleys (or Trois Vallees) in France. There are four main resorts that make up the Trois Vallees; Meribel, Val Thorens, Courchevel, and Les Menuires.
You will often hear Meribel called the hub of the region. The reason for this is that Meribel is located centrally and as a result basing yourself in Meribel offers unparalleled access to the rest of the region.
With a resort height of 1450m, Meribel is a resort with high altitude skiing and a great snow record.
If you’d prefer to be a little higher up the valley, you could look at Meribel Motterat; one of the satellite villages of Meribel. The village has its own character and charm although, whilst fully tied into the ski region, most of the shops, bars, and restaurants are located in Meribel itself.
Whilst searching for accommodation you might also come across Meribel Village. Again, this is a satellite village within the Meribel Valley located just below the main center of Meribel.
As with Meribel Motterat, you have full access to the ski area from Meribel Village but again the amenities are more limited and if you like your skiing holidays loud and lively then the Village is not your best bet.
Meribel as a whole is extremely pretty and is predominantly comprised of traditional stone and wood-clad chalets, providing much of the charm and beauty of the resort. To ensure good piste access, most chalets have private minibus services.
If you want a Meribel skiing holiday you should expect a lively resort with plenty to do, and plenty of skiing. It’s great for families but hardly short of nightlife for adult groups either. Why not give us a call and see if we can find you the perfect Meribel ski holiday?
With access to 600km of piste across the Trois Vallees, the skiing in Meribel is enough to keep even the most advanced skier completely occupied for at least a week.
Still, there’s plenty to enjoy even if you’re not an expert skier. Meribel is also one of those wonderful resorts that offer bountiful skiing for all abilities.
Whether you want to stick to the easy to access nursery slopes or want to challenge yourself with some off-piste tree skiing or freestyle adventures in one of the many snow parks in the area, the skiing in Meribel will keep everyone in your party happy.
There are some very easy to access nursery slopes in Meribel which have a gentle gradient and are ideal for learning to ski.
As a complete novice, you’ll spend most of your time in the Altiport area, a part of which is specifically designed for beginners to learn the ropes before moving on to the other pistes towards the end of your skiing holiday.
There are endless possibilities for intermediate skiers. Long, winding blue runs like the Gelinotte run down into the heart of Meribel and some lovely runs down into Meribel Motterat.
As an intermediate skier you’re probably going to want to purchase a full area lift pass to explore the surrounding resorts but if you want to save a bit of money there’s still plenty of skiing to be had just with the local area lift pass which gives you access to the whole of the Meribel Valley.
Advanced skiers on holiday in Meribel will absolutely want to purchase a full area 3 Valleys lift pass. There’s so much skiing to be had just in Meribel but the more adventurous among you will definitely be drawn out of the valley sooner or later in search of new and exciting challenges.
With over 600km of piste to explore you can’t possibly get bored. You could easily spend a whole week skiing in the Three Valleys and still find there’s more to go!
A snowboarding holiday in Meribel will provide tree-lined runs with plenty to jib on at the side of the piste and access to two brilliant snowboard parks located within the Meribel valley itself.
The Moon Park is the bigger of the two parks and is a favourite hangout for snowboarders in the area. And as if that wasn’t enough, you can also access the snowboard parks in Val Thorens and Courchevel.
With a lot of the skiing within the tree line, Meribel offers some great opportunities to go off-piste. There are also some amazing couloirs to be skied including the Coulior Tremplin leading down to Meribel near the top of Saulire.
It’s definitely not for an inexperienced skier and is an extremely dangerous route so take care. If you like it steep and narrow, then the couloisrs that Meribel offers are just the thing.

Tell us roughly when you want to go and who is coming, and we will price it with the operators for you.
No obligation. One of the team will come back to you the same day where we can.
There’s plenty of apres-ski to experience in Meribel, from mountain restaurants and bars to fine dining in the resort, then on to late-night party hot spots.
The most famous of the apres-ski haunts in Meribel is probably the Rond Point where you will find live music playing from 5pm to 7 pm on most days.
You’re always guaranteed a party atmosphere with plenty of skiing and dancing. If you want a good apres ski party it’s also worth checking out the newly opened La Folie Douce.
For those who then want to keep the party going, there’re plenty of bars in the center of Meribel to be found and if you want to carry on into the early hours then O'Sullivans Bar and La Taverne have got you covered.
For those out there who enjoy the quieter life, it’s very easy to steer clear of the apres-ski parties.
Meribel is quite a spread out a resort, and there is still plenty to do in the evenings with the shops open late and some fantastic restaurants such as Chez Kiki just waiting to be discovered. You could even opt for some fine dining in one of the top class hotel restaurants that can be found in hotels like La Chaudanne.
With an open-air ice rink, go-karting on ice, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, and a sports center with an indoor pool, Meribel’s facilities are up to the minute – but you could also chill out by catching a film in one of the cinemas or enjoy the view from a hot air balloon, giving a completely different perspective on the Trois Vallees. There’s even a bowling alley!
