There are nursery slopes in all the four ski areas in Les Arcs. Les Arcs 1800 offers the sunniest and widest ski runs, and Arc 2000 has snow sure gentle runs from the Col de la Chal. Arc 1600 and Peisey Vallandry offer plenty of tree lined skiing.
Due to the enormous size of the Paradiski area, there are plenty of intermediate skiing opportunities on offer. There are some great tree-lined routes from Arc 2000 to Peisey Vallandry that are a must experience for any skier.
For expert skiers there are some fantastic black slopes from the Aiguille Rouge (3226 m), including the 7km long black that runs to Villaroger, perfect to get the adrenalin pumping.
Snowboarding was popularized in France by local ski instructor Regis Rolland with his Apocalypse snow series of films and Les Arcs is often regarded by some as the home of European snowboarding. There is a large terrain park perfect for learning new skills or practicing old ones. Les Arcs offers chalets and many apartments that are ideal for a snowboarding holiday.
There are plenty of off-piste routes from the back of the Aiguille rouge down to Villaroger or down the back of the Bellecote glacier in La Plagne to the Nancroix Valley, just below Plan Peisey, although guides are recommended. There are also off piste routes from Tignes available and Heli-skiing can be arranged from Arc 2000 and Arc 1950.
There are 34 bars in Les Arcs but the village of Arc 1800 is the liveliest of all the villages. However, there is plenty of atmosphere and charm in all the other villages but Arc 1800 has the most restaurants and bars to choose from. Notably, the Red Hot Saloon bar, known by the locals as “Red Bar”, has cheap drinks, is popular with locals and serves food all day. Up in Arc 2000 Whistlers is a popular choice for those who like a tipple after the slopes.
There are nightclubs in Arc 1950, 2000 and 1800 that are all open until 4am. The most popular clubs are the KL92 in Arc 2000 and the Apokalypse in Arc 1800.
Les Arcs wouldn’t be the resort it is today without some great après ski. Arc 1800 is definitely the liveliest village thanks to its excellent choice of bars and restaurants. The most popular bar is The Red Hot Saloon Bar known locally as “Red Bar”, and here there is often a live band or DJ on till late. Although it has a large dance floor get in early as it can get busy quickly.
Other popular bars include Jungle Café that has a jungle-themed interior and is open till 1 am. Thanks to its late license and cheap drinks it’s popular with seasonaires and chalet girls. The Ambiente Bar has a more French feel, serving cocktails, beer and has a lively but equally great chilled out feel. For the night owls, Apokalypse club in 1800 is open till 4 am.
Arc 1950 has a sophisticated feel and has a good choice of bars popular choices include La Belle Pinte, which is a large Irish pub. There is also a nightclub known as Le Club 1950 that is the perfect place to go with friends after the bars have closed.
Arc 1950 is situated just below Arc 2000 and is linked by a late-night cable car or it is possible to walk between the two resorts in about 10 minutes. Up in Arc 2000, there are more bars and nightclubs on offer.
The best après bar in Arc 2000 is Whistler’s which is always busy from 4 pm onwards and has many drinks offers. The Crazy Fox is another popular drinking waterhole and has good happy hour offers and karaoke. Another popular hangout is the Red Rock Café. There is a nightclub "KL" that is open till 4 am and is always full of chalet girls and holidaymakers.
