Folgarida is a beautiful little Italian ski village with access to a ski area that offers 150km of connected skiing spread over 4 resorts. It is actually a purpose-built resorts which seems at odds with a beautiful traditional looking ski resort but the way that Folgarida has been built has been with authentic architecture in mind so as to build a village that completely blends in with the surrounding environment. It is located in National Park and so building regulation has prevented any developments taking place that would have risen above the natural tree line. This means you have the luxuries of a modern ski resort with great facilities as well as plenty of bars, shops and restaurants and a fast lift system, yet with the feel of a classic out ski village.
From either end of the village run the two main gondolas that whisk you up to the slopes. At the top of both gondolas, you will reach the Malghert Aut which is where all of the skiing begins. They have a huge nursery area here as well as ski rental shops and a few bars and restaurants which are a great place to stop for a quick bight to eat or a sociable drink at lunchtime. Whilst beginner skis will head to the nursery area, everyone else will spread out from here across the rest of the entire ski area and ski into the neighboring resorts of Madonna di Campilgio, Marilleva and Pinzolo. Anyone who is slightly more adventure can also ski an extended area on the full area lift pass that also covers Passo Tonale and Ponte di Legno. However, you will either have to hire a car or take a bus to get to these extra resorts.

With 150km of linked pistes between four resorts, the skiing on offer in Folgarida is perfect for intermediates but beginnners and advanced skiers are catered for as well. It is an extremely pretty ski area and the scenery that surrounds you as you ski from resort to resort is breathtaking.
Beginner's skiers are very well catered for by the Family Park at the top of the Belevedere gondola. It is a specific area for beginners to learn to ski and offers step on and off magic carpet lifts so that you do not have to worry about falling off any complex button lifts or chair lifts on your first couple of days.
The majority of the runs in the area are blue and red and with 150km of linked piste on offer, intermediate skiers will be in paradise when skiing in Folgarida. The links over to the neighboring resorts of Marilleva and Madonna di Campilgio are a good challenge and add some nice variety to the skiing. Whilst a trip over to Pinzolo and back all in one day will be quite a days worth of skiing for most intermediate skiers!
Whilst there are not an abundance of black runs on offer in Folgarida and the surrounding resorts, there are still few to be found (8 to be precise). These black runs combined with the entire 150km of piste that is on offer should keep most expert skiers happy for a few days provided that you do not mind skiing the same runs a few times. However, if you are feeling really adventurous then you could look to take bus to either Passo Tonale or Ponte di Legno, both of which are covered on the full area pass and open up almost another 200km of skiing.
Snowboarders who are on holiday in Folgarida will like the fact that there is a local Snowpark located just at the bottom of the Provetti piste. It is not the biggest of Snowparks but it is good for finding your feet. The real draw of the area for snowboarders is access to the Snowpark in Madonna di Campiglio which is well renowned as being one of the best in Europe!

Folgarida is not exactly the resort to rush to if you are looking for a made party week but if you are looking for a few sociable drinks whilst on a family ski holiday then Folgarida could be for you. The Malghet Aut, which is at the top of the Belvedere gondola has a few restaurants and bars and is a great place to stop for a few drinks if you want to sit in the sun and watch everyone else who is still on the piste. If you are stopping for a few quick drink and you have the kids in tow then they also have an outdoor playground which will keep them entertained whilst you sit down relax.
Once you are back down in the village the main venue to head if you want a few more drinks is Eta Beta. They often have karaoke and the happy hour drinks start from about half past 3. To keep the kids entertained they have billiards and pinball and they do a good fast food menu as well. Beside this, the rest of the nightlife is mainly focused around hotel bars.
